We’re looking for an adaptable UX/UI Designer to join us in our consulting environment, working on client-facing projects with multi-functional teams. 

You’ll be responsible for creating interactive wireframes and hi-fidelity mockups, guided by different forms of requirements docs. You’ll distill client ideas into a comprehensive look and feel, iterating based on feedback – you’ll also have the opportunity to provide feedback to our team during design critiques and sprint reviews.  


Working with multiple clients is common at Quartech, and we value the ability to switch context quickly. Our teams are empowered to determine the best use of their time across their projects, ensuring that timelines and budgets are met.  


In this role, you’ll: 

  • Work with clients to understand business objectives, user needs, and to define the design goals of a variety of projects 
  • Design wireframes, mockups, screens, and workflows for user stories and technical development 
  • Evaluate UI challenges and present ideas focused on interaction design and usability
  • Present design ideas to developers, clients, stakeholders, and peers for review, working within an iterative design process
  • Analyze existing web app designs and code to improve quality, mitigate issues and improve the user experience 
  • Investigate user experience and design requirements of client projects, creating journey maps and target personas
  • Conduct user research, like running in-lab usability testing, interviewing, and running surveys
  • Effectively communicate design specs to developers, working directly with them to prototype and bring those solutions to completion  


To be successful in this role, you should bring the following: 

  • Degree or Diploma in Applied Arts & Design Program or a technical field 
  • 5+ years of hands-on interface design experience 
  • Minimum of 2 years UX research/business analysis or related experience 
  • Interest or experience in programming (HTML, CSS, JavaScript etc.)
  • Good understanding of a variety of code frameworks (e.g., React / Angular, etc.) 
  • Solid understanding of design principles and best practices in UX/UI
  • Proficiency in software relevant to design - Sketch, Invision Studio, Figma, Photoshop, Illustrator
  • Ability to both give thoughtful criticism and receive critique
  • Strong problem solving skills, and a self starter attitude
  • Impressive active listening skills to help you discern unspoken requirements
  • Experience working in an Agile environment
